Dr. Richard Bell
Grand Cayman, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon
Dr. Bell was raised in Saskatchewan and completed his dental training graduating at the University of Saskatchewan in 1990 with distinction. He then worked as a general dentist for three years with his brother in Alberta. During this time, he became more interested in the surgical aspects of dentistry and decided to specialize in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In 1993, Dr. Bell, along with his wife, moved to Montreal to enter the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program at McGill University. He completed his training, including an externship at the University of Miami, in 1998. He received a Masters of Science degree which researched bone healing with dental implant insertion. Dr. Bell moved to Kelowna with his wife and daughters in 1998 where he started a private practice. In 1999 he joined the staff at the Kelowna General Hospital and, along with Dr. Naito, started the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the Department of Surgery. Dr. White joined the Division in 2007. Our Vernon office was started in 2008. Dr. Bell practices the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. His interests include facial and orthognathic (corrective) jaw surgery, facial and Jaw reconstructive surgery, bone grafting and dental implant surgery. Okanagan Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a recognized All on 4 Treatment Center of Excellence for complex dental implant treatment. Dr Bell is Head of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Kelowna General Hospital. He is a member of the Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, member and past president of the British Columbia Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and past examiner of the RCDC (C) in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. When not in the hospital or the office, Dr. Bell enjoys his family, his dogs, golf, hockey and hiking the beautiful Okanagan and Shuswap regions.
